Most Teslas don't come with a spare tire. A nail in the tread can leave you stuck at the side of the road, waiting for a tow truck. With a plug kit in the trunk, you can seal a simple tread puncture yourself in a few minutes and drive on to a tire shop.
Choose your kit
Every kit includes plug strips, rubber plugs, glue, T-handle tools and a zip case. The bigger kits add more plugs, and some add gloves, pliers and a cutter. Check the photo of each kit for its exact contents.
How it works
Find the puncture and pull out the nail or screw.
Clean the hole with the reamer tool.
Push a plug strip in with the insertion tool and trim the end.
Inflate the tire to the correct pressure.
Good to know
Tread only. Punctures in the sidewall can't be plugged. The tire needs replacing.
You'll need air. Keep a tire inflator in the trunk to add air after the repair.
A roadside fix. Have the tire checked by a tire shop as soon as you can.
