Kits for repairing a simple puncture in the tread: plug strips with T-handle tools, screw-in rubber repair nails, mushroom plugs with a plugger tool, and patch plugs of the kind tire shops fit from inside the tire.

  • Tread only. A puncture in the sidewall can't be plugged.
  • You'll need air. Keep a tire inflator in the car to add air after the repair.
  • A roadside fix. Have the tire checked by a tire shop as soon as you can.
