Best Floor Mats for Tesla Model X: 5, 6 and 7-Seat Fit Guide
Share
The Model X carries more people and more gear than any other Tesla, which means more mud, sand and spills on the floor. It is also one of the trickiest cars to buy mats for, because the floor changes with the number of seats and with the model year. This guide shows what to check so you order the right set the first time.
Step 1: pick your seat layout
Mats are cut to the floor, and the floor is different on each layout. The areas below are what a full floor and cargo set covers.
- 5 seats: two front seats and a three-person second row. There is no third row, so the rear cargo area is larger.
- 6 seats: two second-row captain chairs and a third row.
- 7 seats: a three-person second-row bench and a third row.
Step 2: match your model year
Mats for one year range do not necessarily fit another. The sets we list are divided into 2016–2020, 2021–2025 and 2026 and newer, depending on the seat layout. For 7-seaters in the earliest range, the seller lists September 2017 and newer. Not every layout is offered in every year range, so check the exact combination in the listing for your car.
Not sure about your year? Check the registration or the vehicle information in the car's software, then compare it with the listing.
Step 3: floor only, or a full set?
| Set | What it covers | Good if |
|---|---|---|
| Floor mats | Driver, passenger and the rear rows | You mainly want to protect the cabin |
| Floor + cargo (full set) | Floor mats plus the frunk and trunk mats | You carry gear, luggage, pets or groceries |
| Cargo mats only | Frunk and trunk mats, with covers for the back of the third-row seats on 6 and 7-seaters | You already have floor mats you like |
Step 4: choose the material
A big family car sees more spills and more mud, so material matters. All-weather TPE keeps liquid on the surface and rinses clean, while carpet-top mats soak up water and need vacuuming. We compare them in detail here: TPE vs rubber vs carpet, why TPE is worth it and the drawbacks of fabric mats.
Step 5: check drive side and delivery
- Drive side: according to the seller, the floor mats we list are for left-hand-drive cars only. Right-hand-drive owners should check availability before ordering.
- Delivery: most items ship from the seller and not from a local warehouse, so delivery can take longer than a typical online order. Read the seller's delivery time, return policy and fit notes first.
Frequently asked questions
Are Model X floor mats the same for 5, 6 and 7 seats?
No. The second and third rows are laid out differently, so the sets are cut for each layout. Always pick the one for your seat count.
Do Model S and Model X mats fit each other?
No. They are different cars with different floors. Choose the set listed for the Model X.
Do I need the cargo mats too?
If you use the frunk or the trunk for luggage, gear or pets, yes. A full set protects more of the car for a modest extra cost.
Can I use mats from another model year?
Only if the listing states that it fits your year range. When in doubt, choose the set for your exact range.
